Nouriel Roubini Named Bocconian of the Year

PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS AT NEW YORK UNIVERSITY'S STERN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND CHAIRMAN OF RGE MONITOR, ROUBINI WILL BE AWARDED BY THE BOCCONI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ON 4 JUNE. FAMOUS FOR HAVING TIMELY FORECASTED THE FINANCIAL CRISIS AND THE ENSUING MACROECONOMIC SLUMP, PROF ROUBINI DID HIS UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES AT UNIVERSITà BOCCONI.

Nouriel Roubini is this year's Bocconian of the Year. Born in Istanbul 50 years ago, Roubini is Professor of Economics at the Stern School of Business at New York University and is Chairman, Co-Founder and Strategic Guide of Activities and Content at RGE Monitor, an information and analysis firm considered one of the best economics internet sites on the web. The recognition will be awarded 4 June at the annual Bocconi Alumni Association convention (www.alumnibocconi.it). The award will be presented by Association President Claudio Costamagna and Bocconi President Mario Monti, Rector Guido Tabellini and University Chief Executive Bruno Pavesi will all be attending the cerimony.

Nouriel Roubini graduated with a degree in Political Economics from Bocconi in 1982 and received his PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 1988 and is considered one of the best international experts in the field of Macroeconomics. He was a Professor at Yale University's Department of Economics between 1988 and 1995 and was Senior Economist for International Affairs at the White House Council of Economic Advisors between 1998 and 1999 before acting as Senior Advisor at the US Treasury Department in 1999-2000. He has long acted as a consultant for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and other public and private institutions and has published many papers on international macroeconomics, emerging markets and the reform of the international financial system.
