The City of Milano Places a Plaque in Memory of Luca Attanasio in Front of Bocconi

UNVEILED THIS MORNING BY THE MAYOR IN PRESENCE OF THE DECEASED AMBASSADOR'S FAMILY MEMBERS AND RECTOR VERONA, IT WILL FOREVER REMIND THE BOCCONI COMMUNITY OF THE DIPLOMAT KILLED IN AN AMBUSH IN CONGO

A short ceremony, a small group, in the presence of the family of Luca Attanasio, the Italian ambassador killed in Congo in February 2021. Thus the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, in front of the civil, military and religious authorities of the city, Rector of Bocconi Gianmario Verona and Managing Director of the University Riccardo Taranto, discovered the plaque that the Municipality of Milan has chosen to affix to the entrance of the Ravizza Park to honor the memory of the diplomat. Right in front of the entrance of Bocconi University, the same place where Luca Attanasio completed his studies.

"Milan remembers Attanasio with a heart full of affection and gratitude for his mission of peace and help to the least privileged. From today, here at the Ravizza Park will be remembered forever a young man who gave his life to protect human rights", said Mayor Sala. "Every day thousands of young people who attend Bocconi will pass through Parco Ravizza as he did. Our hope is that Luca's example will strengthen the values of peace, solidarity and humanism in them and in our community."

In memory of its alumnus Luca Attanasio, "Bocconi University has set up a scholarship fund," Rector Verona said after the ceremony. "Luca was a role model, both for the type of profession, which has real social impact, and for the things he did. His untimely death has left us stunned, but certainly he as a person is a model for the students of the future."
