The New Face of Italian Public Administration

IN AN ONLINE MEETING ON TUESDAY 4 MAY, RENATO BRUNETTA, MINISTER FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, WILL EXPLAIN HIS ORGANIZATIONAL REVOLUTION TO 800 STUDENTS

A new, young, lean and digital public administration. Italy’s public administration, in the intention of Renato Brunetta, overseeing the ministry in charge of public employees and the organization of the state apparatus, is set to change a lot in the coming years, since it’s going to be characterized by an approach of “getting stuff done quickly", which is quite different from what has been the case over the last few decades.

Mr Brunetta himself will present his organizational revolution to the Bocconi community, in an online meeting entitled "Change in public administration", scheduled for Tuesday 4 May, from 10:20am to 11:50am, as part of the course requirements for the degree in Economics and Management of Public Administrations. The meeting, after a welcome address by Bocconi Rector Gianmario Verona, will be introduced by the Director of the program, Francesco Longo,  before  a concluding debate between Mr Brunetta and Giovanni Valotti, Bocconi Full Professor of Public Management.

“Mr Brunetta will also talk about a topic that is very dear to us: competence”, explains Valotti, “which is one of the central points of the Minister's reform program. There will be a need for new professional profiles in the context of a generational renewal of public administration, which is going to be one the big employers of the future. The contribution that universities are capable of giving will play a fundamental role in this".
