Why Space Exploration Matters. Samantha Cristoforetti in Bocconi

SHE WILL TELL HOW SHE BECAME ASTROSAMANTHA AND SHARE HER EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE IN THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY. DATE ON MARCH 19

Many children dream of becoming astronauts and exploring the mysteries of space. Samantha Cristoforetti, the first Italian woman in the crews of the European Space Agency and with 200 days spent in space, really made it, and she will be in Bocconi on March 19 (aula Magna Roentgen, 5:45pm) to explain why exploring space is so important. The event, organized by the Graduate School and part of the 'Broaden Your Frame' series of seminars, is open not only to Master of Science students, but also to Bachelor and School of Law students, as well as to faculty and staff.

“Samantha will share with us her extraordinary experience and she will outline the endeavors of the European Space Agency, together with many international partners, paving the way for the next human missions beyond Low Earth Orbit,” explains Antonella Carù, Dean of the Graduate School. "It will be an opportunity not only to understand the importance of knowing space but to learn how to look at some crucial issues of our time and our society from a different perspective”.

Graduate students can include these seminars in the Supplementary Curricular Activities. Students in the 2018-19 cohort who participate in the seminars will be able to obtain the two credits provided by the study plan for the second year. In order to validate it as an exam, students have to attend at least 6 seminars (out of a total of 15) and to send a "triple-tweet" after each meeting, that is a short comment of max 840 characters on the theme addressed in the seminar at the address byf@unibocconi.it.
