How Millennials Disrupted Markets

IN THE FIRST INSTALMENT OF THE EXECUTIVE CHATS SERIES, RECTOR GIANMARIO VERONA MEETS LUCA MIGNINI, ALUMNUS BOCCONI AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER AT CAMPBELL SOUP COMPANY

Luca Mignini, Chief Operating Officer at Campbell Soup Company, is a Bocconi alumnus of 1986 in Business Administration. In the first instalment of the Executive Chats series, in which Bocconi Rector Gianmario Verona meets top executives on the frontline in facing the challenges of the digital century, Mignini discusses how competencies and skills needed to cover a general management position have changed and how the omnichannel revolution is influencing his industry.

“Seismic changes”, he says, “have been affecting three domains: consumers, with the Millennials driving the change; technology, with its massive impact on how you sell the product and service the customer; and employees’ set of values: when I was looking for a company, I was looking for a job, Millennials are looking for a purpose, so you need to make this adjustment to make sure that you can get the best talent and your company be successful”.

“Bocconi changed my life”, Mignini concludes, “by giving me the capability of managing issues and being resilient”.
