Airbnb Meets the Students

ROB CHESNUT, GENERAL COUNSEL OF THE HOSPITALITY MULTINATIONAL, WILL BE AT BOCCONI ON NOVEMBER 17 AT 10.30AM TO TALK ABOUT THE CORPORATE MODEL BASED ON THE VALUE OF DIVERSITY

Rob Chesnut, a member of the Airbnb management, will meet the students on November 17 at 10.30am at the aula maggiore of Via Sarfatti 25 to discuss the "behind the scenes" of the Airbnb model: what does it mean to combine a rapid growth with the ability to retain talents and build for them an attractive, motivating and professional environment, where everyone feels that they can make a difference. The meeting, moderated by Ferdinando Pennarola and Paola Bielli (Department of Management and Technology), is part of a series of dates named Digital Responsible Seminars, "during which Bocconi students, as well as the whole university community, have the opportunity to learn from senior leaders in digital companies what are the challenges they face everyday," explains Pennarola.

Graduated at the Harvard Law School, Rob Chesnut, has a long experience in Silicon Valley’s technology companies, including eBay. "Silicon Valley is a ‘state of mind’, the place where many serial entrepreneurs started their careers, to become famous for building companies with a global vision, and based on the value of teamwork," says Pennarola. "Airbnb lives in perfect harmony with the Valley, since it considers diversity as a pillar of its own business culture: a diversity that enriches and is also fundamental to understand the needs of customers who find themselves in many parts of the world and who differ for culture, needs and ambitions. To diversity is added the challenge of leading a global team. Airbnb's senior managers are committed to engaging and motivating their team, which is not necessarily co-located at the San Francisco offices, but is often dispersed in far-off countries. This is the focus of the meeting."
