Innovation, Creativity and Science: Bocconi at Bookcity Milano

THE INVENTIONS THAT HAVE CREATED THE MODERN ECONOMY AT THE CENTER OF A PROJECT FOR HIGH SCHOOLS AND A MEETING WITH THE PUBLIC

The innovation between creativity and science is the angle that Bocconi wanted to give to its participation in Bookcity Milano, the popular metropolitan festival of books and reading, which this year reaches its sixth edition (16/19 November).

The focal point of the Bocconi initiatives is 50 Things That Made the Modern Economy, Tim Harford's book published in Italy by EGEA, the University's publishing house, which traces the history of inventions that have shaped modernity. Mr. Harford (pictured above), a journalist at the Financial Times, and author of the BBC World Service broadcast 50 Things That Made the Modern Economy, from which the book was taken, will be the protagonist of a meeting with high school students and a public debate.

In the afternoon of Friday, November 17, Harford will discuss with students from Milan's high schools who have participated in a project inspired by the theme chosen by Milanese universities for their participation in Bookcity:"Beyond the Twentieth Century".

At 5.30 pm, at the EGEA Library in Viale Bligny 22, Mr. Harford will be the leading presence in Innovation between Creativity and Science, a debate with Angelo D'Imporzano (Senior Managing Director, Accenture) and Roberto Villa (Manager of Human Centric Practices and Research Ecosystem, IBM Italy), moderated by Marco Ottaviani, Bocconi’s Dean for Research.

The preceding evening, Thursday 16 November, the Rector, Gianmario Verona, will participate in the joint event of Milanese universities and Fondazione Corriere della Sera (6pm, Sala Buzzati, via Balzan 3). During the event a video on the knowledge of the twentieth century will be shown, realized with the participation, among others, of Bocconi professors Vittorio Coda and Giuseppe Berta.
