Alumni Improve Their Visibility with CV@B

RECENTLY OPENED TO ALL BOCCONI AND SDA BOCCONI ALUMNI WHO HAVE GRADUATED SINCE 1981, THIS IS HOW THE LARGE CURRICULUM DATABASE CREATED BY THE UNIVERSITY'S CAREER SERVICE WORKS

Gaining visibility on the labor market is the first step towards obtaining the best results. And one of the ways to do so is inserting your resume in a place where companies can see it quickly. Thus, as of a few months ago, the CV@B initiative of Bocconi Career Service has been extended to all Bocconi alumni as far back as the Class of 1981. CV@B is a large database that contains the curricula, letters of presentation and certifications of Bocconi students and alumni. All career data can be updated by certified users as circumstances change, and are made promptly available to companies and headhunters. This is a new platform that shortens the time needed to connect labor demand and supply, and is also a way to address the need to digitize placement and orientation processes.

The numbers of CV@B bespeak of a system that has considerable potential: since April 2016, when it was launched for students and junior alumni, over 8,000 CVs have been uploaded and updated, about 3,500 referring to recent graduates, and 5,200 of them are already integrated with Linkedin profiles, so as to create even faster connections between employers and graduates. Since November 2017, when it was opened to senior alumni, the database has been enriched by an addition of 200 personal profiles. On the employer front, there are 9,000 companies collaborating with Bocconi that are registered in the system, and can therefore browse all the CVs they are interested in for their job profiles in a single virtual space.

"For Bocconi alumni this is an opportunity of great importance and that is fully consistent with the philosophy of our Career Advice, which is to give to both junior and senior colleagues the possibility to update their skills and stay constantly informed about what kind of skills the job market requires," Laura Bruno explains. She is HR director at Sanofi and one of the advisors of the Career Area of the Bocconi Alumni Association (BAA). The CV@B initiative "is a helpful tool to keep your CV updated, the importance of which is often unappreciated, especially by those who have remained with the same company for many years and are not used to change". Moreover, compared to the showcase effect represented by Linkedin profiles, "in the CV@B database, companies find their target employees already selected, including many international profiles".
