THE ALUMNUS BOCCONI OF THE YEAR 2010 WILL TAKE A TWO YEAR LEAVE FROM AMAZON AND WILL WORK PRO BONO

Diego Piacentini, Alumnus Bocconi of the Year 2010 and senior vice president of Amazon’s international consumer business, has been appointed Head of the Italian Prime Minister's digital technology office. Starting in the next summer, he will take a two-year leave from Amazon and will move back to Italy (he currently lives in Seattle) to work pro bono for his country's government.

“I look behind me to see the road taken and I know I’ve been very fortunate to have learned from people who are against clichés and dogmas, with innate capacities for innovation and invention and a vision of changing the status quo and overturning the rules”, Piacentini said accepting the Alumnus Bocconi of the Year 2010 award. The same spirit will assist him in his new position.
