#Elebocconi Live with the Student Media Center

FOR THE FIRST TIME THE UNIVERSITY'S MEDIA HAVE ENSURED A COMPLETE MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE STUDENT ELECTIONS

The Student Media Center (Radio Bocconi, Bocconi TV and Tra i Leoni) has ensured a comprehensive media coverage of the campaign for the elections of Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 April, when students will elect their representatives for the Faculty Council, the Department Councils, the School Council, the University Sports Committee, the ISU Bocconi Board and the University Board. With an array of interviews, debates and events, starting from 15 April the three media have introduced the majority of the students representatives to their peers. Today the three candidates to the University Board confronted each other in the debate Una poltrona per tre, conducted by Lorenzo Cinelli (editor-in-chief of Tra i Leoni), Giuseppe Musella (station manager of Radio Bocconi) and Ennio Terrasi Borghesan (general director of Bocconi TV).

The candidates of the three lists (ACT Bocconi, B.Lab Bocconi and Lista Aperta Obiettivo Studenti) have been interviewed several times by the three university media over the last two weeks: the morning debates of the radio programme Les incompétents, broadcasted live from the BBar and available through podcast on Bocconi TV, have been widely followed – particularly the first episode on the evening of RB Day. During every debate, host Francesco Picchio interviewed three candidates for each university body on their motivations and the main points of their programme. Journalists of Tra i Leoni have witnessed and commented every episode on their blog, by listing three qualities and three flaws for each candidate. Also published on the blog, an interview of the outgoing student representative at the University Board explains what the most yearned role actually involves. In a similar format as Les incompétents, 30 minuti - #elebocconi2015 has been on air on Bocconi TV’s YouTube channel from 2 to 2.30pm. Which makes the general director particularly proud, given that this is the first live programme in the history of Bocconi TV. “Now that we have broken the ice, hopefully we will get into the habit of broadcasting live”, says Ennio.

During the debate Una poltrona per tre, which took place today in the Aula Magna of via Gobbi, the three candidates to the University Board discussed six main topics (teaching, study abroad, campus life, academic calendar, One-stop service center and bureaucracy, ISU and scholarships), replying to the questions prepared by the editorial staff of the three media together, with the right of reply and rejoinder. “The optional course Informazione e potere of CLEACC was an inspiration for today’s American style debate”, explains Ennio.

“This year’s goal was getting our peers as involved as possible in the electoral debate and making the student elections more official, because it concerns all of us directly. Consequently, as the University’s Media Center, we wanted to ensure complete media coverage of the elections. This is the first time that happens, and it is also the first time that university politics is followed so enthusiastically. Things worked out well also because we have collaborated consistently”, the three agree.

Along with the more formal occasions, Radio Bocconi offers two events called Politicamente scorretto, conducted by the authors of the satirical programme A Novanta Francesco Picchio (who also hosts Les Incompétents), Edoardo Righini and Emanuele Barbara. Following the memorable moment when the three candidates to the ISU Board performed in a karaoke session at the end of the first episode of Les Incompétents, one of the most successful events of the last weeks, it seemed natural to create a more relaxed, cheeky political programme. The radio listeners immediately appreciated the idea and crowded the Radio halls on the evening of 22 April, when the candidates to the Faculty Council attended Politicamente scorretto. The second and last event will take place on 27 April with the three candidates to the Board of the University, and expectations are high.
