Wash Out, a startup hosted by the Speed MI Up incubator and the brainchild of a Bocconi alumnus, won the first edition of the B Heroes competition show, broadcast on Canale Nove, thus winning funds worth 800,000 euros. On Thursday, June 7th, in the final episode of the startup acceleration television show created by Boost Heroes and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Wash Out beat four other finalists, in the final act of a process that involved 12 startups selected from 542 candidates.

Wash Out is the app for cleaning cars, scooters and motorcycles on public roads using waterless products. It was the brainchild of Andrea Galassi, Bocconi alumnus, who earned a BSc in Business Administration in 2009 and a MSc in Management in 2011. Today he is the investment manager of L Catterton, and three years ago he was working in Dubai as a Boston Consulting Group consultant. "There was sand and dust everywhere. I discovered that there was a car washing with no water service in shopping malls. It was then that I got the idea".

He then shared it with his friends Alessandro Morlin Visconti Castiglione, a MSc in Accounting Corporate Finance and Control graduate of 2011 at Bocconi, and Christian Padovan (pictured above), co-founder and CEO of Wash Out. In May 2016 the startup became part of Speed MI Up, the incubator of Bocconi University and the Chamber of Commerce of Milan Monza Brianza Lodi, with the participation of the Municipality of Milan. "Bocconi and Speed MI Up have believed in the idea of Wash Out from the beginning," Christian explains. "The incubation process has been fundamental in laying the foundations for what we would like to become a great company".

Wash Out is active in Milan and, since 2018, in Rome. Through the app, the customer selects her vehicle (make, type, plate), indicates its location, indicates the date and time at which she wants it to be washed. You will find the car clean, saving time and without making any effort. "This is the true value of Wash Out: in addition to washing the car with respect for the environment, it also returns time to customers".

The startup carries out 2,500 washes per month, which corresponds to saving 400,000 liters of water. Waterless cleaning products are biodegradable and non-polluting. Wash Out is the official partner of three of the major national car sharing services and of other leading companies linked to the automotive world.
