On 21/22 May the Music of Piano City Will Ring at Bocconi

, by Andrea Celauro
A music workshop for children (with two afternoon appointments), a concert by jazz pianist Yaniv Taubenhouse and a sixpiano concert by the Chigiana Keyboard Ensemble will be the protagonists of the musical weekend that will liven the spaces of Bocconi University

The doors of the new Bocconi campus will open on 21-22 May to make Bocconi University the protagonist of the cycle of events of Piano City Milano, with a music workshop for children, a jazz piano concert by Yaniv Taubenhouse and a six-piano concert by the Chigiana Keyboard Ensemble. The widespread music festival was born in 2011 and now in its eleventh edition organizes piano concerts in the most symbolic and evocative places of Milan.

As proof of the strong interest of the University to become more and more a space for the promotion of culture, three events will be hosted on the new campus in Via Sarfatti 10.
It begins Saturday, 21 May at 3:30pm with 'Toy pianos impro' (in collaboration with Ricordi Music School), when an expert in music pedagogy will guide children between 5 and 10 years in a workshop that will introduce them to making music through the use of toy pianos. The same workshop will be repeated at 4:15 pm and booking is mandatory for both appointments on the Piano City Milano website.

It continues on the same day but at 6:30pm (free admission), with the concert 'Hope' by the Israeli jazz pianist Yaniv Taubenhouse, which presents some songs from his latest solo album. Taubenhouse graduated from Thelma-Yellin High School of the Arts in Tel Aviv. Masterclasses and lectures in the United States and Europe led him to work with jazz and classical pianists such as Richard Goode, Brad Mehldau, Robert McDonald and Sonia Rubinsky. In December 2009, Yaniv Taubenhouse studied in New York with pianist Pavlina Dokovska and in the fall of 2010 he moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to study with pianist Jura Margulis in the University of Arkansas piano performance program. He has performed with musicians such as Ronald McClure, Anat Cohen, David Schnitter, Ari Hoenig, Roswell Rudd, Jorge Rossy, Orlando Le Fleming, Geroge Coleman, Peter Bernstein, Ferenc Nemeth and Will Vinson.

Sunday, May 22 at 7 pm, to close Bocconi's two days of Milan Piano City will be the great six-piano concert to be held in the garden of the SDA Bocconi campus (free admission). The Chigiana Keyboard Ensemble will perform 'A/symmetrie', a concert with music by Steve Reich, Graham Fitkin, David Lang, Julia Wolfe. Founded in 2021, the Chigiana Keyboard Ensemble is an ensemble developed in the context of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, from the union of six Masters of the High Specialization Courses of the piano institution: Luigi Pecchia, Monaldo Braconi, PierLuigi Di Tella, Alessandra Gentile, Stefania Redaelli and Danilo Tarso.
