Bocconi Travels Safely with the Italian Foreign Office

, by Benedetta Ciotto
The agreement between Bocconi and the Foreign Office's Crisis Unit has been signed to support students who go on study and work experiences abroad

"Bocconi University is a global institution that encourages its students to live international experiences at many other universities, institutions and companies. It is therefore essential for them to know what it means to confront the world today, travelling in a conscious and safe way". This is how Stefano Caselli, Bocconi's Dean for International Affairs, introduces the Convention signed between the University and the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, which assists Italian citizens abroad in emergency situations, such as terrorism, socio-political tensions, natural disasters, health emergencies.

In 2017, over 4000 students took part in the various international study and work programs offered by the university, "which is why it is important for them to be able to understand the international scenario," says Stefano Verrecchia, Head of the Crisis Unit. "The aim of the agreement with Bocconi is to raise students' awareness on the importance of prevention before traveling. They should collect information about a country's situation, but they should also inform us of their movements by registering on our portal".

The Crisis Unit has developed specific services: viaggiaresicuri.it, dovesiamonelmondo.it and the "Crisis Unit" app for smartphones and tablets.
