The Broaden Your Frame Cycle Returns. With a Talk about Chaos and Creativity

, by Benedetta Ciotto
On October 1, with the economist, journalist and anchor Tim Harford, the cycle of seminars organised by the Graduate School returns. With the aim of stimulating the critical and creative thinking of students

The "Broaden your frame" series of seminars returns to stimulate students' critical thinking and enrich their cultural baggage. The first guest will be the economics journalist, Financial Times' columnist and TV and radio presenter for the BBC, Tim Harford, who, on October 1, will talk on the stage of the Aula Notari about the connections between chaos and creativity.

"These seminars aim at providing a platform for dialogue with characters coming from different worlds, often deliberately far from the economic, managerial, legal and financial realities faced every day in the classroom," says Antonella Carù, Dean of the Graduate School. "In the following months –as well as in the past edition- students will have the opportunity to meet philosophers, writers, scientists, researchers, artists, historians, architects, designers and to confront themselves with experiences and perspectives that will help them to appreciate the world in its complexity. This approach is aimed at encouraging critical thinking, an attitude to think 'outside the box' and an emotional intelligence. All important aspects for the development of responsible leadership".

The "Broaden Your Frame" seminars – 7 per semester - are open to graduate students and are included in the curricular supplementary activities. In particular, students in the 2018-19 cohort who participate in the seminars will be able to obtain the two credits provided by the study plan for the second year. In order to validate it as an exam, students have to attend at least 6 seminars (out of a total of 14) and to send a "triple-tweet" after each meeting, that is a short comment of max 840 characters on the theme addressed in the seminar at the address byf@unibocconi.it. The protagonists of the next seminars will be the philosopher Gloria Origgi, the researcher Camillo Ricordi and the professor Ivan Moscati.

The registration to each seminar must be done through Agenda.
