The New Leader Hasn't Got Solutions. He Creates the Conditions for Others to Bring Them

«In the past the leader was one with a solution, a brilliant solution to every problem», Gianni Ciserani, Alumnus Bocconi and Group President, P&G Global Fabric & Home Care, Global Feminine and Home Care, says in the second instalment of Executive Chats, a series of interviews by Bocconi Rector, Gianmario Verona. «He would talk to his team and give them the wisdom. Today a leader is someone who is able to find the solution through the team, through the people, through the organization, and maybe externally. So you create an environment for others to give you the solution, instead of assuming that you have all the solutions».

In one's professional life, it's important «never losing confidence that you can win», Mr. Ciserani says, and that confidence is one of the gifts Bocconi gave him when he studied here in the '80s.
