World University Rankings: Bocconi in the European Top 10

, by Tomaso Eridani
In the table for Business and Economics, of the ranking published by Times Higher Education, Bocconi ranks 9th in Europe and 27th in the world

An articulated evaluation of the core missions of Bocconi, from teaching to research to international outlook, leads the University to be placed 9th in Europe and 27th in the world in the table of the Business & Economics area of the World University Rankings by Subject, published by Times Higher Education.

The ranking took into consideration 200 universities who were judged on 13 performance indicators grouped into 5 main areas: the quality and prestige of teaching (including a survey on reputation among academics worldwide), the volume and reputation of research (in part also based on a survey of academics), the number of citations to capture the impact of research, international outlook (in terms of faculty, students and research) and knowledge transfer (the ability to help industry through research and consultancy).

"This result is decidedly important because it comes from a detailed assessment of all of our activities and performance and because it is also based, in addition to objective data, on the perception that academics around the world have of us," comments Stefano Caselli, Dean for International Affairs at Bocconi. "Obtaining a prestigious result in this ranking is particularly challenging due the high number of schools involved and the wide range of criteria evaluated."
