The Women and Men on Gianmario Verona's Team

, by Barbara Orlando
The Rector's squad is now set, and will take office on 1 November. Their mandate will be based on five main goals

All the energy of a team of 11 men and women, including several new faces under 50, will be pushing to achieve five ambitious objectives: this is the profile for the new Rectorate, led by Gianmario Verona. He will officially take office on 1 November, at the end of the term of Andrea Sironi, who has led the University for the past four years.

Verona, appointed by the University Board in June, has defined his team along with the appointment of the Dean of the SDA Bocconi School of Management by the Executive Committee of the University Board. His closest collaborators will be the five School Deans and six Deans.

The Dean of SDA Bocconi will be Giuseppe Soda (Department of Management and Technology), while Annalisa Prencipe (Department of Accounting) will have the task of leading the Undergraduate School. Continuing in their respective roles for the upcoming two-year period will be Antonella Carù (Department of Marketing) as Dean of the Graduate School, Stefano Liebman (Department of Legal Studies) at the School of Law and Pierpaolo Battigalli (Department of Decision Sciences) at the PhD School.

Changes among the Deans involve not only new faces and several changes in roles, but also the establishment of two new Deans: General Affairs and Strategy Implementation. Stefano Caselli (Department of Finance) will continue to oversee International Affairs. Bruno Busacca (Department of Marketing) and Alberto Grando (Department of Management and Technology), already on Sironi's team, will assume new roles focusing respectively on Fund Raising and Alumni Engagement, and Strategy Implementation. Lastly, there are three new names: Marco Ottaviani (Department of Economics) will be Dean of Research; Fausto Panunzi (Department of Economics) will be responsible for General Affairs and, starting on 1 February 2017 (when he joins the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management), Francesco Billari, who is currently at the University of Oxford, will be Dean of the Faculty. Until that time, the position will be held ad interim by the Rector.

Gianmario Verona, in office for the next two years, and his team will have the task of implementing the Bocconi2020 Strategic Plan with particular reference to five objectives set out by the Executive Committee of the University Board and President Mario Monti: consolidation and strengthening of human capital; promotion of pure and applied research; internationalization of SDA Bocconi, continuous innovation of study programs; and strengthening of partnerships with companies and support to fundraising.
