The Classroom Becomes an Auditorium During Alderighi's LessonConcert

, by Andrea Celauro
On May 4, the last lesson of the course taught by the professorpianist will come to life thanks to a jazz quintet. And it will become a real concert at 6pm in the atrium of via Sarfatti 25

First was the trio, then it became a quartet, now it as been a quintet for several years. The last lesson of the course taught by international lecturer and pianist Paul Alderighi turns into a mini concert, when, sitting at the piano and accompanied by musician friends, the professor shows concretely the students what they have studied during the year.

He did it with the Color Swing Trio, of which he is part, and for the occasion when the trio was joined by the pianist Stefanie Trick and will do so again on May 4 at 4:15pm in calssroom 4. Appearing will be a quintet with two pianists, a clarinet player, a bass player and a drummer. At the end of the lesson, at 6pm, the quintet will move iton the atrium of via Sarfatti 25, where they will give a mini concert for all.

The lesson and the concert, an initiative of the degree course CLEACC in collaboration with Bocconi Arts Campus, form the last appointment of the music history module of the course, criticism and research of artistic disciplines: " during class we demonstrate, by playing it, the jazz language, its forms, its groups, the styles of jazz and improvisation, "explains Paul Alderighi. "With me there will be Stephanie Trick, US pianist specializing in stride piano and boogie woogie, Engelbert Wrobel, clarinetist and saxophonist of Cologne, one of the best international interpreters of swing music, Roberto Piccolo on double bass and Nicola Stranieri on drums". A quintet that promises sparks, then, and a different way, certainly more fun to finish the course before the final exam.
