From Palermo to the World and Back

, by Andrea Celauro
The Alumni Chapter in Sicily's main city supports Bocconi undergraduates studying abroad

Give someone the opportunity to become an international exchange student: this is what the Bocconi Alumni Community of Palermo has achieved, by raising money for two international mobility scholarships. This form of financial aid goes to Bocconi students studying a semester abroad in one of its 250 partner universities: "This fundraising campaign builds on the one started in 2016 and allows us to support two scholarships for undergraduate students in the form of partial tuition exemption," Chapter Leader Dario Marino explains.

"In recent years we have reflected a lot about what it meant to be a group of alumni and how we could support synergies in Sicily. We decided to focus our efforts on students, because we know first-hand how difficult it is to study away from home." In fact, international mobility "is a cardinal experience in the development of one's own education", Dario goes on. "If you have the opportunity to spend months studying abroad, when you come back, you're a lot more open-minded." And not only that: "This kind of initiative rekindles the give-back sentiment in Bocconi alumni and augments corporate interest in our network of alumni."
