A Logistics Business Started in Hong Kong

Shipping your merchandise is often the hardest thing to do, especially for small businesses. Easyship, a business started by two Bocconians, intends to make everything simpler. The idea was born three years ago while the founders were working in Singapore for Lazada, South-East Asia's leading e-commerce platform owned by Rocket Internet. Easyship was recently recognized by Forbes for being among Asia's 30 best companies founded by people under 30. The company is based in Hong Kong and its founders are Augustin Ceyrac and Tommaso Tamburnotti, both Bocconi alumni.

"We realized that the companies in the region that sold their products on the platform," says Augustin Ceyrac, a 29-year-old from Paris, "had a lot of difficulty managing shipments of their products, from packaging to the shipment proper, and the tracking of packages." Starting from this consideration, at the beginning of 2015 Easyship came into being as a platform for helping companies in the simplification of the shipment process, and it immediately won the Startup Arena Contest, the award going to best tech startup in Asia.
«In practice, we collect the product and then take care of the packaging and selecting the best shipping route and methods, something we can do by using our algorithm, which skims through hundreds of companies that deal with global shipments», says Augustin.

Meanwhile, Easyship has expanded considerably. It has now offices in Singapore, the Netherlands, the United States and Australia, and employs around 40 people globally. "We are in a phase of strong growth", Augustin comments, "in particular in the United States we have a major opportunity from a 5-to-10 years' perspective. Logistics is a complex industry, and we are the only ones working with these methods, although the competition remains fierce. However, Forbes' acknowledgement of our work has increased the company's value and given it great visibility ".
