A Sandwich with Mario Monti to Discuss Web Giants and Competition in Europe

, by Tomaso Eridani
The next appointment with the Lunch and Learn Talks series for the MBA class of SDA Bocconi is set for Monday the 6th

An informal moment, with a sandwich, to discuss and debate the most important topical issues in the international scene with prestigious guests. This is the idea behind the new 'Lunch & Learn Talks' initiative introduced by the new Director of the full-time MBA of SDA Bocconi, Francesco Daveri. And the next appointment, on Monday the 6th, will welcome guest Mario Monti, President of Bocconi and former European Commissioner for Competition, to discuss 'The Silicon Valley As Seen from Brussels' – in other words, the issues of antitrust and competition in Europe linked to the big high-tech corporations.

"In a well-defined and structured program like an MBA to have some more informal and relaxed moments is a great opportunity for sharing opinions and knowledge, especially if you are sitting together with prominent figures of the economics and academic world," Daveri says. "Such moments render the program more flexible. The world is in constant flux and change and these meetings, open to students and faculty, are important to develop the habit of discussing what is happening, to compare the things learnt in class with real life and to leverage collective intelligence."

In the first meetings the MBA class had the chance to discuss 'Innovation, Chinese-Style' with Bruce McKern, Sydney Business School, and to watch the most recent of Mario Draghi's press conferences live with Francesco Giavazzi, Bocconi University.
