Playing the part of the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) of a company living a phase of strategic and organizational renewal and developing a project through a web-based simulation. This was the initiative attended by the students of the Bocconi Master in Organizzazione e Personale (OP). "The students worked on the case of Sirti, a company specialized in the design, building and maintenance of large telecommunications networks, which in 2011 started a process of corporate reorganization," explain Gabriella Bagnato and Beatrice Manzoni, respectively Director and Coordinator of the master, who developed the simulation together with the Learning Lab of SDA Bocconi School of Management and the company. The initiative is part of a larger project, funded by the Graduate school, aimed at strengthening the educational offer.

"We chose to develop a web-based simulation to enable more experiential learning and because technology plays a key role in facilitating the learning process," continues Manzoni. Students were divided into groups, they analyzed the background and history of Sirti and developed a plan which required to intervene on the structure, processes, selection, development and on reward policies. "In the end, we uploaded our projects on a portal that gave us a feedback on the effectiveness of our proposals, which helped us to understand to what extent we approached the solution that Sirti had actually developed through the years," says Carolina Ievoli, a student. The students also presented their projects in front of the two professors and Clemente Perrone, HR Director of Sirti. "We were glad to have the chance to apply our knowledge in such a practical exercise, inspired by a real business case."
