Financial Times Rankings: Bocconi's MSc in Finance up to 7th Spot in the World

The University gains two positions thanks to the relationship with the international investment banking sector and an excellent career service (first in the world)

The close link with the world of international finance and the quality of the careers service have earned Bocconi University two positions, up to 7th place in the world, in the Financial Times Global Masters in Finance 2017 ranking, released today. The program evaluated by the British daily paper is the Master of Science in Finance, directed by Massimo Guidolin.

Among the 19 criteria used by the Financial Times to evaluate the Master of Science in Finance, Bocconi stands out in those related to links with the job market: career service (first in the world) and graduates' salary. The fact that 97% of the faculty have a PhD is a sign of the close ties of teaching with cutting edge research.

"Bocconi has historic ties with the headquarters of the major financial operators and, in particular, investment banks," says Stefano Caselli, the Dean for International Affairs. Bocconi is, in fact, the university that organizes every year the Investment Bank Weekends, during which recruiters from the headquarters of the 18 largest investment banks come to Milan to interview and recruit the best students and graduates.

"In a world of finance that, with the possible downsizing of the City of London that could follow Brexit, risks a strong geographical fragmentation," says Caselli, "the consolidated link with the headquarters of all major operators ensures continuity in the placement of our students, no matter what the next financial capital will be. In China, Frankfurt, Paris, Rotterdam, Luxembourg, Dublin, Milan or London, we will be there".

"The ranking reflects the growing demand for our graduates from employers, both international but also from those of primary importance in Italy," says Guidolin, who adds, "The rise in the ranking recorded since 2013 is a stimulus to insist and accentuate the unique mix of the Master In Finance - between technical-quantitative knowledge and more soft know-how, of management, - and to progressively direct our graduates also to innovative job placements, such as in asset management and the world of investment funds. "
