BAG 2021: Enjoy Art to Forget the Pandemic

ON WEDNESDAY 17 NOVEMBER A NEW EDITION OF BOCCONI ART GALLERY, THE UNIVERSITY'S INITIATIVE TO PROMOTE CONTEMPORARY ART, WILL KICK OFF. FROM 4 TO 8PM OPEN DOORS (WITH GREEN PASS) FOR FREE AND GUIDED VISITS TO ABOUT A HUNDRED WORKS BY 53 ARTISTS, WITH SOME OF THEM ON HAND. TWO TALKS ARE SCHEDULED WITH CARIELLO, ISGRO', KLEIN, PINELLI, SQUATRITI AND ULLRICH

Immerse yourself in contemporary art to forget, at least for an afternoon, the tragedy of the pandemic. This is the advice of Bocconi Art Gallery, BAG to its friends, which returns on Wednesday 17 November, from 4 to 8pm, with the inauguration of a new edition, the first since the pandemic. One hundred works by 53 Italian and international artists, which enthusiasts and onlookers will finally be able to admire in person with free visits and guided tours created in collaboration with MIGuidi (access to BAG is free and free but the Green Pass is mandatory).

Two in-depth talks with some of the artists are also scheduled: at 5:30pm in the building in Via Roentgen 1, Fausta Squatriti, Emil Michael Klein and Wolfram Ullrich will meet, moderated by collector Ettore Buganza. Then at 6:45pm in the building Via Sarfatti 10, Letizia Cariello, Emilio Isgrò and Pino Pinelli take their turn, moderated by Bocconi professor and president of the University's Committee for Contemporary Art, Severino Salvemini.

“We are delighted to be able to inaugurate the latest edition of BAG with new works that have not yet had contact with a wide audience”, commented Salvemini. “Furthermore, we finally have the opportunity to present the artists who have contributed to enhancing the spaces of the new campus in Via Sarfatti 10”. 

Many BAG artists will be present at the opening, together with various collectors and gallery owners. In addition to the participants in the talks, on hand will also be Stefano Arienti, Alessandro Busci, Sonia Costantini, Marcello De Angelis, Ivan De Menis, Domenico D'Oora, Fabrizio Dusi, Nadia Fanelli, Marco Gastini, Ariane Hagl, Debora Hirsch, Luca Lombardi, Maria Teresa Ortoleva, Robert Pan , Roberto Pietrosanti, Silvia Rastelli, Amedeo Sanzone, Anna Maria Tulli, and Valeria Vaccaro.

Born in 2009 with the idea of providing students with a different perspective on the world, precisely through the language of contemporary art, the Bocconi Art Gallery project has brought hundreds of works by numerous artists from all over the world to Bocconi in recent years. The works are given on loan for use to the University, but, thanks to the generosity of artists and collectors, some of them were then donated to the University. Today the Bocconi-owned collection includes 12 works of contemporary art, including Cancellation of Public Debt by Emilio Isgrò, a triptych by Sonia CostantiniGuerrieri by Sergio Fermariello,  Clinamendi by  Massimo Kauffman,  Fight-Flight by Arthur Duff, the Great Chessboard by Elio Marchegian, the wall painting Future by Alessandro Mendini, the installation Knowledge That Matters by Lorenzo Petranton,works by Mario Raciti, The Power of Color by Mario ArlatiColonna by Arnaldo Pomodoro and  Poetario by Giorgio Milani (this latter donated by the professors of SDA Bocconi).
