THE NEW SEASON OF THE BOCCONI UNIVERSITY SUMMER SCHOOLS KICKS OFF ON 28 JUNE, AND ITS OFFER OF ONLINE COURSES INCLUDES SOMETHING NEW: THE SUMMER SCHOOL IN LAW FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. THE PROGRAM IS GROWING, BOTH IN OVERALL NUMBER OF STUDENTS AND IN PERCENTAGE OF NON ITALIAN STUDENTS

The adventure began in 2015 with six courses and a total of 140 participants. Today, in the second online edition and the seventh overall, there will be 833 participants (647 in 2020, the first year online ) attending the 20 courses of the four Bocconi University Summer Schools, starting on Monday 28 June with the Summer School for International University Students (until 16 July), reserved for students from non-Italian universities, taught in English and providing six credits. These large numbers are even more impressive due to the strong presence of foreign students, which in the Summer School for high school students has reached 66% of those enrolled, compared to 53% in the last edition. As always, the range of topics covered in the courses is wide, from economics and finance to Italian, international law, machine learning, and strategy – all the way to fashion and luxury, all taught by Bocconi professors with the aid of a cutting-edge multimedia platform.

"The growing success of the Summer Schools is mainly due to two factors,” explains Stefano Caselli, Dean for International Affairs. "On the one hand the students, after the long and difficult period we have been through, have greater desire to build their curriculum with new experiences; on the other hand the birth and growth of a real summer school market, which initially was a typically American phenomenon with some examples in the United Kingdom, but which have now also developed in Continental Europe, where Bocconi plays a leading role.” The program has a wide range of proposals which - especially for the high school kids - allows students to get a preview of the disciplines Bocconi teaches in its BSc programs.

In addition to the aforementioned Summer School for International University Students, the Summer School for High School Students is also starting, for Italian and international students, to be held in English from 5 to 16 July, the Summer School in Law for high school students , also for Italian and international students, which will be held in Italian from 29 June to 2 July, and, new this year, the Summer School in Law for University Students, for students and recent graduates, which will be held in English from 5 to 10 July and which will entitle students to three academic credits. "This new Summer School is part of our strategy of 'conquering' an ever-increasing number of international students", explains the Dean of the School of Law, Pietro Sirena, "to whom we want to present our major fields, digital law and business law, taught with an international bent, which are the themes of our LLMs. Bringing more and more foreigners to study law at Bocconi, obviously without neglecting Italian students, is one of our top goals ". As the numbers attest, the international students responded en masse to the University's summer courses offer.

"I chose Bocconi Summer School because I saw the opportunity to learn subjects I know little about, with people from all over the world. It is also the perfect opportunity to get an idea of Bocconi for when I apply for university in autumn, "says Julian Haimo, United Nations International School, New York." I expect to make new friends and learn international finance and politics, which I hope will give me a better idea of what I want to study at university. " The vastness of the subjects covered was the reason for the choice of Louise Aquino, City University of London - The City Law School: "Bocconi came to my attention for the first time as one of the partner universities of the City Law School, my alma mater, where I was told about the exciting experience of previous students, who had chosen the Milan campus for their study period abroad. Bocconi's Summer Law School program covers an ambitious range of topics that before I didn't have the opportunity to study.”
