The Twelfth MOOC

A COURSE FOR THOSE ASPIRING TO A CAREER IN MAJOR INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS KICKS OFF ON 16 NOVEMBER. FOUR WEEKS TO EXPLORE A WORLD THAT IS MUCH MORE TEMPTING THAN ONE MIGHT THINK

From 16 November, a new Mooc (Massive open online course) will enhance the offer developed by Bocconi University Innovation in Learning and Teaching (Built) available on the Coursera platform. The course, entitled “Management of international development: towards the 2030 agenda”, addresses the concept of international development by analyzing its opportunities and challenges in relation to various thematic areas. In particular, says Chiara Moscardo, MOOC project manager at Built, "the course aims to address the complex issue of international development, trying to offer a 360 ° view on the subject. The emphasis will therefore not only be on the economic aspect, but also on the institutional and social ones, involving about 20 international guests who will offer their point of view from widely varying perspectives ".

The four week course is a can’t-miss opportunity for those who want to pursue a career in large international organizations but is also an investment by Bocconi University to allow anyone in the world to understand what professional prospects there are, as Alexander Maximilian Hiedemann , program director and coordinator of the Executive Master in Management of International Organizations (Emmio) at SDA Bocconi School of Management, explains. "For those at the beginning of their career this is a unique opportunity to explore the context of international development and large organizations ”, says Hiedemann. "It also stems from the desire to enhance the experience of Emmio. The first week will be dedicated to presentations and accounts by protagonists of the sector; in the second, we will give ample space to enhance the context of governance, trying to understand what the pillars of the decision-making processes are; in the third we will deal with funding and financing - what are the current trends and prospects, thanks also to the use of innovative tools for sustainable development. Finally, in the fourth ”, continues Hiedemann,“ we will analyze the internal context of organizations with a particular focus on human resource management, with particular attention to generational differences ”.

All this because if it was once easy to attract young people, also from the private sector, this is no longer the case. Lack of perceived prospects, it seems: “Young people do not see career development paths and they hardly approach this world”, continues Hiedemann, “and when they do they don't stay there for long, unlike a while back. The task of this course is also to make them think again ”.
