School teachers become Youtubers with the help of Paola and Cristina

THE IDEA OF TWO BOCCONI ALUMNI TO HELP TEACHERS MAKE THE BEST USE OF YOUTUBE FOR THEIR ONLINE LESSONS, THROUGH A FREE SERVICE

An idea, a platform to help Italian teachers in this period of distance learning to make the best use of Youtbe for their online lessons, born from the plea of a child of a Bocconi graduate.

"It was my son who asked me why his teachers couldn't be as online as his favorite Youtubers," explains Cristina Sangiorgi, a Bocconi graduate and now a TV producer, who participates in the YouProf project on a personal level. "So we thought about how to help teachers create engaging on-demand educational moments for students.”

The YouProf project was thus born with the collaboration of BUzzMyVideos, a company providing solutions and services for YouTube channels of brands and publishers founded by another Bocconi alumna, Paola Marinone, and FARE X BENE, an association active in schools with anti-discrimination awareness projects. YouProf offers free advice and support to schools and teachers to create and manage their own YouTube channel with content suitable for children. On www.YouTube.com/BuzzMyVideos teachers can find a series of video tutorials like how to create a channel, make a live broadcast and upload a video, and then every day a live session to answer teachers' questions. After two weeks the initiative has already reached 3000 views.

"Students need engaging content and teachers lack knowledge of technicalities and use of the platform," explains Paola Marinone, Founder & CEO of BuzzMyVideos. "With this initiative we hope to fill this gap and help schools and kids continue to learn while having fun".
