In Bocconi the Retrospettiva exhibition of Aldo Spizzichini

ON MONDAY 6 THE VERNISSAGE OF THE EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY ALDO SPIZZICHINI, OPEN UNTIL JUNE 21

Aldo Spizzichino was born in near Genoa in 1941, and graduated with a degree in Physics from Bologna. He lived in that city for his entire life, with the exception of two years in the US, where he was a researcher at NASA and a faculty member at Maryland University.

In addition to his work as an astrophysicist at the CNR and INAF, he cultivated interests in the artistic-graphics field throughout his life. He used various forms of expression, including photography and engraving, with creations ranging from logos to posters, but especially focusing on computer art. It is in this field of artistic pursuit that Aldo Spizzichino achieved the most personal and interesting results.

His pioneering work in this area started well before the advent of personal computers and commercial software, and continued over the years with unchanged creativity and craftsmanship. The main theme of his artistic pursuit was the aesthetic translation of mathematical structures that generate evocative or natural forms of abstract concepts: visual metaphors recognizable by the public, which, due to their symbolic impact, invite the observer on a journey of discovery and knowledge.

Aldo Spizzichino passed away in June 2017, at the height of his creativity.

The art exhibition is organized by ISU Bocconi, free entrance.
