A Summer at Bocconi

APPLICATIONS FOR THE BOCCONI SUMMER SCHOOL 2018 ARE NOW OPEN. THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL DEDICATED TO BACHELOR AND ALSO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IS BECOMING MORE INTENSIVE, OPEN AND INTERNATIONAL EVERY YEAR

Bocconi University, with its Bocconi Summer School, opens, for the fourth year now, the doors of the campus to international students with a passion for business and economics, interested in living a learning experience made up of lectures, company visits, while discovering the city of Milan. And it does so not only for university students, but also for high school students: "We extended the possibility of participation to students aged 16-18, developing a specific program, already last year: on the one hand, it is important for them to experience the university reality, and on the other, Bocconi is keen to invest in motivated young talents with an open mind,” says Stefano Caselli, vice Rector for International Affairs and professor of Finance. “Since its creation in 2015, the Summer School has become more and more intensive, open and international every year," he continues. The 2017 edition was attended by 188 bachelor students of 40 nationalities and by 179 high school students of 30 different nationalities. Applications to in both study programs (held in English) close on April 26 for bachelor students and on May 3 for high school students.

The Summer School dedicated to young people aged 16-18 features two weeks of study (2-13 July) and the possibility to choose two subjects out of the ten options available: Entrepreneurship, Digital Marketing, International Politics, Finance, Strategy, Economics, Computer Coding, Luxury and Fashion, Game Theory, Economics of European Union.

“What impressed me most was the attitude of the professors toward high school students: they treated us as if we were already university students, as adults, and this allowed us to really experience university life", says Ata YenidoÄŸan, a Turkish student who participated in the 2017 edition. “Not to mention the company visits, which were so interesting because we saw how what we studied in class is implemented in real business life,” says Marija Lena Novak, a Croatian student, "For example, I had the opportunity to visit Microsoft and Google!”.

The Summer School addressed to students enrolled in a Bachelor program of an international university, consists in three weeks of study (2-20 July) and in the choice of one course out of the six options available: Economics of European Union, Equity and Venture Capital Financing, Fashion and Design Management, International Business, Luxury Management and the two new novelties of this year: Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management.

It is a good opportunity for those who want to go deeper into what they are already studying, but discovering new perspectives, as Zala Plibersek did, a student at the University of Vienna who participated in the 2017 edition, and who wanted to "combine something that I really love but which I never had the opportunity to study, fashion and design, with what I am already studying, that is business", but also a way to discover new horizons, as did Sagarika Kaushal, a student of Psychology at the University of Western Australia with a passion for studying and who wanted to spend three weeks in Milan" to learn something completely new and immerse myself in an international environment ".
