Bocconi Joins the Global University Leaders Forum

THE COMMUNITY, RUN BY THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM, GATHERS THE PRESIDENTS OF 27 OF THE WORLD'S TOP UNIVERSITIES. BOCCONI ALSO COLLABORATES WITH THE WEF BY CONTRIBUTING TO A DYNAMIC KNOWLEDGE TOOL MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC YESTERDAY

Bocconi University has accepted the invitation to join World Economic Forum’s Global University Leaders Forum (GULF), a community comprised of the presidents of 27 of the world’s top universities. GULF acts as both a community addressing relevant educational, scientific and research agendas and an advisory body providing intellectual stewardship to the World Economic Forum (WEF).

“Joining the GULF community gives us the invaluable chance to debate with the best academic institutions about the future of higher education, the role of scholarly research and the drivers of change shaping the global economy and society at large,” said Bocconi President Mario Monti.

Bocconi is also among the “leading universities, think tanks, international organizations and other research institutions”, as stated in a WEF note, collaborating with the World Economic Forum in drawing their Transformation Maps, a dynamic knowledge tool covering more than 100 industries, countries and issues shaping the modern world, now made accessible to the public (upon registration) at the address https://toplink.weforum.org/knowledge/explore/.

A team led by Francesco Daveri, SDA Professor of Economics, and including Franco Bruni (Department of Economics) and Nicoletta Corrocher (Department of Management and Technology) co-curated the Transformation Map on Italy, which determines the main evolution drivers of the Italian economy (Relations with the European Union, Labour and education dynamics, Stagnant public debt, Banking and financial markets, Innovation drive).

“Bocconi University has been a valued co-curation partner in helping us establish the Transformation Maps as a tool for framing global knowledge. As the Maps enter a new phase in their evolution, we look forward to continuing this collaboration, working together to find the hidden connections in all the challenges we face and provide leaders with the knowledge needed to address them,” said Stephan Mergenthaler, Head of Knowledge Networks and Analysis, Member of the Executive Committee, World Economic Forum.

Every map comes with a “Feed” section featuring in-depth contributions from a selected group of knowledge websites. Bocconi Knowledge is among the selected news outlets that feed the section.
