Pollicino to Draft White Paper on Digital Content

APPOINTED BY AGCOM, THE BOCCONI FACULTY MEMBER AIMS TO EXPLAIN THE RULES OF THE GAME IN A SECTOR THAT HAS UNDERGONE SWEEPING LEGISLATIVE REFORM AT THE EUROPEAN LEVEL

The Italian Authority for Communications Guarantees (AGCOM) has recently named Oreste Pollicino, Professor of Comparative Law at the Bocconi University Department of Legal Studies, an expert for a white paper on digital content. “AGCOM would like to draw up a white book in light of recent changes in Europe regarding audiovisuals, online copyright, online privacy and liability of internet providers,” explains Pollicino. He will be in charge of the legal area, while Augusto Preta will focus on economic issues. “Particularly, we need to understand which rules of the game should be applied to the over-the-tops,” says the Bocconi professor, “such as Google, Amazon and the other web giants who do not have an infrastructure base the same way audiovisual providers do.” The first draft of the paper will be ready by late 2016. To complete the work, Pollicino will work in close contact with AGCOM commissioners and the various organizations involved. “We will also do a number of workshops and interviews with operators in the sector both at national and international levels.”
