Speed MI Up Incubator Seeks 15 Innovative, Viable and International Ideas

THE NEW TENDER OPENS ON OCTOBER 3. THE WINNING IDEAS WILL GAIN ACCESS TO TWO YEARS OF INCUBATION AND WILL ENJOY CERTAIN SERVICES FOR THE FOLLOWING FIVE YEARS. UBI BANCA ENTERS THE SPEED MI UP TEAM

Innovation, viability and internationality are the characteristics that business ideas and startups must have to access the services of the Speed MI Up incubator (www.speedmiup.it), via the new tender that opens Monday, October 3 and closes Thursday, November 10.

The selected entrepreneurs will enter Speed MI Up on February 6, 2017.
They will gain access to numerous value-added services: training and mentoring by the Bocconi faculty and Formaper instructors, one-to-one and collective networking initiatives to meet investors, and finally a place where to work. Unlike other incubators, Speed MI Up does not enter the capital of the startups, thus preserving their value and entrepreneurial freedom. Some services are offered by Speed MI Up’s partners: UBI Banca (funding, a new entry in the Speed MI Up team), PwC (advice on tax and legal issues), Mediamatic (digital communication plans), Aruba (cloud computing), and Innovhub (innovation services).

Launched in 2013, the incubator can already show some success stories such as Cercaofficina.it (online quotes research for car repairs), D1 Milan (watches) One Tray (sponsored trays for security checks at airports), Quattrocento (eyeglasses’ ecommerce), Mind the Gum (food supplement in the form of chewing gum) and Wash Out (home car wash service).

The selection committee will rate the startups based on an elevator pitch (a video of 3 minutes maximum), a business plan, participants’ resumes and, in some cases, an interview. Startuppers can find in the Speed Mi Up website a 12-hour videocourse teaching them how to draw up a business plan and directions about the making of the elevator pitch.
Bocconi University, Milan Chamber of Commerce and the City of Milan, the promoters of Speed Up MI, offer up to 15 seats, and the notice is directed both to entrepreneurs and to startups established over the past 20 months. Startups may be located anywhere, but will have to transfer to the province of Milan within three months.

The period of incubation and acceleration, during which startups can take advantage of the services offered by Speed MI Up, is framed according to a "two plus five" formula, which includes two years of incubation in the quarters of via Gobbi 5 (the first six months) and via Achille Papa 30 (the following 18) and five more years, during which startups will continue to take advantage of some of the services offered by the incubator.
