Bocconi Art Gallery: Around the World in (More Than) 100 Works of Art

THE WORKS OF ART INCLUDED IN THE SIXTH EDITION OF BAG ARE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. THE INAUGURATION WILL BE HELD ON 12 MAY, WITH GUIDED TOURS AND FREE VISITS, TALKS WITH ARTISTS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ART WORLD AND LOTS OF MUSIC

There’s Sadegh Tirafkan, the late Iranian artist, Andric Ljubodrag, a photographer from Belgrade who lives in Toronto, there are the Americans William Klein and Matt McClune and British artists Richard Long and May Hands. There’s Cameroonian artist Pascale Marthine Tayou, the Russian Andrei Molodkin and the Brazilian Debora Hirsh, German artist Arthur Duff, Swiss artist Peter Wütrich and the Dutch Jan van der Ploeg. And there are lots of Italians representing many of the artistic inspirations from recent decades. There’s a little bit of the entire world at the sixth edition of the Bocconi Art Gallery (BAG), which will be inaugurated on 12 May from 5pm to 9:30pm on campus. In total, there will be more than 100 works of contemporary art and about 50 artists.

It will be an important evening open to the pubic with artists, art collectors, art dealers and representatives of the art world. It will also be an opportunity for painting, sculpture and photography enthusiasts to admire the artwork both freely and through guided tours, as well as interact with the artists who created it, even asking them to autograph their catalogs.

In addition to the artwork, four engagements will capture the public’s attention during the evening: the #BAGTalks organized around four topics related to contemporary art that will involve both artists and representatives of the world of culture. At 5:30pm, photographer Andric Ljubodrag and the founder of MIA Photo Fair, Fabio Castelli, will discuss this art form with moderator Gianluigi Colin (Corriere della Sera). At 6:30, Cristina Sanna Passino (RAI) will talk about being an artist with Emilio Isgrò and Grazia Varisco, while at 7:15 Armando Besio (Repubblica) will address the theme of art and museum management with the Director of MART in Trent, Gianfranco Maraniello, and with the President of the MAXXI Foundation in Rome, Giovanna Melandri. Also focused on the figure of the artist is the talk slated for 8pm, led by Marco Casentini and by Luca Loreti, a student of the Brera Academy. With this Milanese institution, in fact, BAG 2016 edition inaugurates a collaboration that will bring selected students to exhibit their work at Bocconi every year.

There will also be lots of music at BAG 2016: in different areas of the Bocconi campus, groups of student musicians coordinated by the Bocconi Students Music Association (BSMA) will stage various musical performances.

The Bocconi Art Gallery is a project created by Bocconi University to promote contemporary art.
