Fortyfive Bocconians for a Big Act of Charity

STUDENTS DURING THE WEEK, VOLUNTEERS IN A SUPERMARKET FOR THE FOOD COLLECTION DAY DURING THE WEEKEND. DATE ON SATURDAY 28 NOVEMBER

For the nineteenth edition of the colletta alimentare (Food Collection) national day, on Saturday 28 November, a group of 45 students of Bocconi will be volunteering in one of the supermarkets participating in the initiative to invite citizens donating a part of their shopping to those who need it. The goal of this annual date, planned as always on the last Saturday of November and organized by Banco Alimentare Onlus, is to distribute food to over 8.000 charitable organizations (soup kitchens, youth centers, solidarity banks, homeless shelters), involving the civil society and raising awareness about the problem of food poverty.

“I have been taking part in this initiative for years and in the end I’ve always felt so happy and satisfied. Being now a member of a students’ association interested in nutrition and food I thought of sharing this event with the other members, as well as with other students of Bocconi University”, says Andrea Telesca, vice-president of Bocconi Students Food Association. In particular Bocconians have been assigned to the Carrefour Express of via San Martino, where they will be working from 8am to 8pm: “We will be split into three groups with different tasks: flyers and shopping bags distribution, food collection and division into categories. It will be a prescious opportunity allowing us to look at what we are studying at university with new eyes”.
