Finance: Bocconi MSc Eighth Worldwide in the Financial Times Ranking

, by Fabio Todesco
The Milanese university's strong showing (it moved up twelve positions in the UK newspaper's ranking ) is mainly due to the placement of its graduates on the international job market. The high ranking confirms a trend of improvement over three years

The outstanding placement results and the employability of graduates in the international job market are the main reasons why Bocconi Master of Science in Finance climbed twelve positions in the Global Masters in Finance 2014 ranking, published this morning by the Financial Times. The two-year pre-experience program now holds 8th position in the world, ahead of prestigious business schools like MIT's Sloan.

Of the criteria analyzed by the Financial Times, the Bocconi program stands out due to alumni positively evaluating the University's career services, placing 2nd among the top 45 master programs ranked by the newspaper. Furthermore, 78% of students in the Bocconi program are already employed on the day of graduation, 100% are employed after three months and 63% of graduates work abroad.

"The improvement is an encouraging acknowledgement of Bocconi's internationalization policy", says Stefano Caselli, Vice Rector for International Affairs, "as the program ranks high in parameters like international exposure of the students and international mobility of the graduates. It also confirms our strength in placement. Interestingly, the recruiters' and job market's consideration of our graduates is a key factor in most of our recent successes in rankings developed by Forbes, The Economist, Financial Times and TopMBA".

"This jump forward in the ranking reflects the efforts that our faculty has placed on strenghtening the breadth of the program to span a broad range of quant and analytical skills to meet the demands by top employers", Massimo Guidolin, the program director says.

Bocconi Master of Science in Finance has been participating in the Global Masters in Finance ranking for three years and shows a regular, positive trend from the 27th position of 2012 to the 20th of 2013 and the 8th of 2014. The program is also among the top five graduate programs in the world recognized as a CFA Program Partner of the CFA Institute, the most important professional association in the area of finance.
