Bocconi Freshman at the Age of 23, Donor at 76

He arrived late at the University, at the age of 23, because immediately after high school he worked for four years in the Eni Group. "I was studying 16 hours a day, especially in the beginning, because I had to learn the right method", Vittorio Rizzo reminisces. Within four years (in 1967) he graduated from Bocconi with a Degree in Business and Economics.

Rizzo's stubbornness was rewarded at the end of his studies, when he receive three offers for an academic position, including one from Giordano Dell'Amore who had just become Rector. "I declined because my dream was a professional career and I was afraid that I had added academic teaching to my workload, I would not have made it," he says.

Needless to say, "Dell'Amore was furious." His profession has given him a lot, "just like Bocconi gave me much." All his family (wife, two daughters and a grandson) chose to study at Bocconi. Today Rizzo has decided to give to the Senior Alumni Scholarship Fund, to provide tangible support to those who have chosen to travel the road he took 50 years ago. "In my professional career I have always tried to support young people. Now I want to make a gesture of commitment towards them. I sincerely hope that my old colleagues will also be mindful of what we received from the University, which is now our duty to give back, by helping deserving students."
