AN AWARDS CEREMONY FOR EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH AND ACADEMICS FOR PHD CANDIDATES AT BOCCONI WAS HELD DURING THE PHD PRESENTATION ON 22 SEPTEMBER. 6 STUDENTS WERE RECOGNIZED AT THE EVENT FOR WORK COMPLETED DURING THE PREVIOUS ACADEMIC YEAR

Student research is one of the cornerstones of Bocconi PhD School programs. Every year an awards ceremony focuses on quality analysis, recognizing students from each program who have distinguished themselves during the previous academic year. This year's awards ceremony was held during the presentation of the PhD School.

The award for the PhD in Statistics was given to Sara Wade, American, for her paper 'Enriched Conjugate Priors,' written during her second year of the PhD, which was published in the journal 'Bayesian Analysis' and presented at the 2010 International Conference on Computing and Statistics, held in London last December.

Annaig Martine Marie Morin was awarded recognition for the PhD in Economics for his paper 'Cyclicality of Wages and Union Power' which won the Best Paper Prize for Young Economists in July 2010 during the 2010 Warsaw International Economic Meeting.

The award for the PhD in Business Administration and Management was given to Jan Voss, German, for "his excellent academic performance during the first two years of the program."

Michele Barbieri received the award reserved for the PhD in International Law and Economics for his excellence results in writing his thesis 'The International Regulation of Sovereign Wealth Funds: Legal, economic and policy issues.'

The award for the PhD in Finance was assigned to Felix Suntheim, German, for his paper ‘Managerial Compensation in the Financial Industry' which won the award for Best Conference Paper by a Doctoral Student at the European Finance Association Annual meeting 2010 in Frankfurt in August 2010.

Lastly, the award to the PhD candidate in Law of Business and Commerce was given to Roberta Russo who published two articles in the journal 'Cassazione penale' during her first year, 'Il ruolo della "law in action" e la lezione della Corte europea dei diritti umani al vaglio delle Sezioni Unite. Un tema ancora aperto' and 'Sul principio di affidamento in materia di circolazione stradale.'
