Sustainability and value: a new research center at Bocconi

Francesco Perrini is the director and Sergio Pivato the chairman of CReSV, the Center for Research on Sustainability and Value, which merges Finetica, Findustria and Space

With the creation of the Center for Research on Sustainability and Value (CReSV), the process of merging and optimizing Bocconi’s research system gets new thrust.

The center, officially established by a rectoral decree on June 8th, merges Finetica, Findustria and Space, three research centers working on sustainability as a leverage to create value and as a yardstick for company valuation and investment choices.

Francesco Perrini, SIF Chair of Social Entrepreneurship, is the director of the new center, Sergio Pivato, full professor of management, is the chairman.

The project for the new center, designed by Perrini and Maurizio Dallocchio, Nomura Chair of Corporate Finance, outlines four research areas: sustainability as a managerial approach, ethical finance, social entrepreneurship and extraordinary finance for the value creation (including the M&A Observatory and the Crisis and Recovery Observatory).

Along with Perrini, Pivato and Dallocchio, other center affiliates will be Gualtiero Brugger, Nicola Misani, Stefano Pogutz, Angelo Russo, Antonio Tencati, Emanuele Teti e Clodia Vurro.

“CReSV is a multidisciplinary center”, Perrini says, “across the Department of Management and the Department of Finance. Using the terms of the Academy of Management (AOM) divisions, we work on social issues in management, organizations and the natural environment, social entrepreneurship. More in detail: green management; energy management; business ethics; and socially responsible investing and finance”.

CReSV is a node of many international networks: AOM, Society for Business Ethics (SBE), Academy of Business in Society (EABIS) and Strategic Management Society (SMS). The international cooperations with Cranfield University, Queen’s School of Business and University of Surrey are noteworthy.

86% of sponsorships are about sports, so huge marketing investments have been made for the 2010 World Cup. But the sponsorship sector in Europe differs widely from one country to another as soon as the discussion moves away from soccer and motor sports
