Valentina, a Young Donor Who's Never Left Bocconi

FOR 13 YEARS SHE'S BEEN AT THE UNIVERSITY, FIRST AS A STUDENT, THEN AS EMPLOYEE AND STAKEHOLDER

She's 31 years old and has spent thirteen of them studying and working at her Alma Mater, Bocconi University. Now she has decided to actively support the University as donor. She's also kind of married into Bocconi, since she met her husband on campus, the first day of classes. There is no question that Valentina Sances has a special relationship with Bocconi.

After graduating in Management in 2008, she first worked in fashion and consulting, then in 2011 she was hired by the University, first to work for the Bocconi Alumni Association (BAA), then, for almost two years now,  at organization and process development. “During my university years, I seized all the opportunities Bocconi had to offer: I was on a tuition scholarship for the whole duration of my undergraduate and graduate education; I went to Bergen, Norway as an Erasmus student, then I did an an international internship in Australia,” she says.

It was this wealth of experiences that made her become a donor. In fact, she has decided to support the BAA Scholarship Fund: “I want to contribute to give others the same opportunities I was given by Bocconi,” Valentina explains. “I realized that what I studied in this University and the diverse experiences I went through opened my eyes on the world and made me become the person I am now,” she says. She concludes by pointing out the following: “I think supporting higher education is one of the worthiest causes there is, since it's a major driver of social change. Supporting students in their studies promotes cultural integration, women's empowerment and social advancement. Being donor is to make a personal contribution to a collective effort.”
