Entrepreneurial Spirit on the Road

BOCCONI ALUMNUS EVANDRO POLLONO IS THE CONDUCTOR OF STARTUPBUS ITALIA, THE INITIATIVE TAKING 25 BUSPRENEURS THROUGH THE STEPS OF AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

72 hours, 5 tutors, 25 selected buspreneurs, 1 minute each to present their business plan: this is how StartupBus Italia works. The initiative is part of StartupBus 2015, a format born in the United States that will also involve Belgium, Estonia, Germany and the UK in a challenge to determine the best business plan. The conductor of StartupBus Italia is Bocconi alumnus Evandro Pollono, who has entrepreneurship running through his veins.

After the Bachelor degree in Business administration, Evandro pursued his studies with an MSc in Marketing management, choosing San Diego for his exchange. He had not graduated yet when, in 2013, he launched his first startup, an apparel e-commerce platform. 2013 was also the year when Evandro made his first journey with StartupBus Italia as a competitor: with his team, he launched Food Ball, an app to order food during games without missing any relevant moment.

Apparently, that of StartupBus was an experience bound to continue, given that Evandro, who is Managing director at Hinteruber, a consulting firm specialized in pricing and profitability, was enthusiastic when he accepted to be the conductor of StartupBus Italia. “I love to take on new challenges and I could not miss the opportunity to organize a big event, which I had already taken part in. StartupBus is a great initiative for aspiring entrepreneurs: with only three days to create and launch a startup the pressure is high, but the outcomes are honestly remarkable and some of the projects go on functioning after the competition too.”

StartupBus kicks off on Saturday 29 August in Bologna and will stop in Milan, Zurich, Aachen and Amsterdam before reaching Cologne, where the finals will take place. This year, at the end of the challenge, StartupBus Italia will be staying longer in Cologne to participate in the Pirate’s summit, a conference dedicated to entrepreneurship and startups.

And because the entrepreneurial spirit is nonstop, Evandro is also a co-founder of Sandeva, a startup that produces 3d printers. “This project means a lot to me and I hope it will soon take off. I want to go on working as a consultant because this job allows me to develop key competences, but my objective is to found my own business and I like the idea that 3d printers allow people to create something and to express their talent.”
