THE MUNICIPALITY OF MILAN HAS APPROVED A FRAMEWORK CONVENTION WITH BOCCONI UNIVERSITY TO REDEVELOP A 35,000 SQM AREA

Yesterday the Municipality of Milan approved a framework convention with Bocconi University to redevelop the 35,000 sqm area of the former Centrale del latte, where the University new campus will rise. The main elements of the convention include an upgrading of Parco Ravizza, the creation of a pedestrian passage through the park, the closure of via Bach and via Sarfatti to traffic, new trees, the rationalization of car parking and traffic flow.

The project for the 35,000 sqm of the former Centrale del latte area meets three Bocconi priorities. First, Bocconi is going to concentrate all the activities of SDA Bocconi School of Management, fulfilling the diverse demands of different users, thanks to three buildings devoted, respectively, to MBA and Masters Programs, Executive Programs and the Administration, besides a smaller common services area. Second, the University is going to provide a sports and recreation center open to the public with an Olympic-size swimming pool, indoor training facilities and a fitness center. Third, Bocconi is going to meet the growing demand for lodgings for foreign students and visiting professors, thanks to a dorm with 300 places.

“The goal”, Bocconi CEO, Bruno Pavesi, explains, “is to realize an urban campus with state of the art environmental sustainability, in perfect harmony with the city and, in particular, with the surrounding area”.

Works will start before year’s end and will be completed before the end of 2019.
