Giulia Bifano Is the New Student Representative on the Board

APPOINTED BY ISTITUTO JAVOTTE BOCCONI, SHE COMMITS HERSELF TO INCREASING THE EFFORT TO MAKE STUDENTS AWARE OF THE VALUES WHICH BOCCONI HAS BEEN FOUNDED ON

Giulia Bifano, the candidate who received most votes at student elections on 28 and 29 April, is the new student representative on the Bocconi University Board. She was appointed yesterday evening by the board of Istituto Javotte Bocconi Manca di Villahermosa – Associazione Amici della Bocconi, which retains the right to choose the representative from among the three most voted students.

To Bifano, 22, fourth year of the Integrated Master of Arts in Law, the appointment is the final step of a path of engagement in student associations that dates back to her arrival in Bocconi. She’s been student representative in the School of Law Council, is a member of the Undergraduate Recruitment Team and a BAA (Bocconi Alumni Association) Ambassador on Campus with responsibility for media.

“I’m delighted I can give further contribution to University life in my new role”, Bifano says. “The only disturbing thing is the lack of fairness shown, during the last elections campaign, by some students – singled out and punished by the University. I firmly condemn this kind of behavior, that taints the student elections with the highest turnout in Italy. The idea to prevail with means other than personal dedication goes against my attitude and against everything that is taught in this University and synthesized in the honor code we all are called to respect. I thus commit myself to increasing the effort to make students aware of the values which Bocconi has been founded on, including fairness, the rule of law, integrity, personal responsibility and transparency”.

Bifano intends also to work on supporting “a calendar which must allow Bocconi to compete with the best universities around the world”; fostering Bocconi internationalization, “including  the Welcome Week and the exchanges”; appreciating “the valuable heritage represented by student associations”.

“To be a student representative at Bocconi is a rewarding experience”, Bifano, thinking of her stint at the School of Law Council, says, “because the University wants to hear from students. Proposals are received with interest and lively discussions follows we can set specific goals and obtain tangible results”.
