Mumbai, New Dean for MISB Bocconi

HIMANSHU RAI, COMING FROM THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT OF LUCKNOW, WILL GUIDE THE BUSINESS SCHOOL IN MUMBAI AND ALSO JOINS THE FACULTY OF SDA BOCCONI

Himanshu Rai has been appointed Dean of MISB Bocconi, the Mumbai International School of Business, the business school opened in Mumbai by Bocconi University, through SDA Bocconi School of Management, in 2012. Rai has been called to guide the strategic development and management of the academic and executive programmes of the school.

The search for the new dean was conducted through an international call to which a high number of candidates of a high level, from both India and around the world, responded. The new dean has the task of managing the development phase of MISB, promoting its growth in the Indian market through the Post Graduate Program in Business (PGPB) and the consolidation of the portfolio of executive programmes.

After teaching at the XLRI School of Management of Jamshedpur, since 2006, Rai has been a member of the faculty of the Indian Institute of Management of Lucknow in the Human Resources and Organisational Behavior area. His research and teaching focuses on the themes of leadership, negotiation, mediation and development of human resources and is the author of numerous publications in scientific journals. Rai also joins the faculty of SDA Bocconi as Professor of Organization & Human Resources Management.

“My endeavor will be to strengthen the distinctive management education offered by MISB which marries Bocconi’s global experience and excellence with India’s rich cultural ethos and opportunity,” says Rai. “MISB also wants to help enhance Indian industry’s expertise by floating executive programmes in niche areas such as luxury fashion, family businesses, food and beverage, social, and mobile marketing.”

MISB has just launched the 3rd edition of the PGPB, the flagship program of the school designed to offer business administration education to Indian students, merging an Indian background with a strong international outlook. While among its executive programmes December will see the 2nd edition of the ‘Luxury & Retail program’ aimed at Indian and international managers of the channel e retail management sector interested in understanding the local retail market and its opportunities.
