Office 365 ProPlus for Bocconi Students and Recent Graduates

THANKS TO AN AGREEMENT WITH MICROSOFT, THE PACKAGE CAN BE INSTALLED ON FIVE DEVICES, FREE OF CHARGE. THE INITIATIVE IS AN IMPORTANT MOVE TO KEEP IN STEP WITH STUDENTS' INCREASING RELIANCE ON MOBILE DEVICES TO ORGANIZE THEIR STUDIES

Bocconi students and recent graduates (up to 18 months after graduation) will soon be able to install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus free of charge on five devices. Office 365’s unique feature is that it is available on multiple devices, and it allows users to study and work on PCs, tablets and smartphones. Students will be able to experience university to the fullest by communicating and collaborating more efficiently, thanks to access to shared work spaces, synchronizing their notes with OneNote and using familiar Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel anywhere and on practically any device.

A recent study conducted by Nielsen for Microsoft highlighted how students are increasingly versatile and use various devices. The preferred tool for students continues to be the PC, with 63% using a computer to look up information on the internet, writing documents (57%), but also for taking notes (20%), while tablets and smartphones are used to read the news (50%) and for recreation (65%).

“Bocconi has always placed student services and benefits at the forefront,” says Bruno Pavesi, Chief Executive Office at Università Bocconi. “High quality teaching, in fact, should always be paired with high quality services: this is the only way young people can have a complete study and life experience. In 2013, Bocconi invested 25m euros in financial aid and scholarships (11% more compared to 2012) to guarantee that deserving students with disadvantaged financial conditions gain access to higher education. The agreement with Microsoft is going in that same direction.”

"Microsoft’s commitment to education is demonstrated in its promotion of developing the skills that young people need when they approach the job market. And Office is at the top of the IDC ranking of the most requested skills at a global level,” explains Emilio Civetta, Director of the Education Division at Microsoft Italia. “We are particularly proud of this agreement with a prestigious and world-renowned university such as Bocconi, which has proven to be in step with innovation and especially focused on student needs.”

As part of the same agreement between Università Bocconi and Microsoft, Windows will be available to students using smartphones and tablets, through an app that provides mobile access to the services in the student agenda.
